The Formula One world is upon us. The new season is just around the corner. Fans are waiting with bated breath to watch their top drivers hit the road. But there’s another set of individuals who are essential to F1 success. They’re the race engineers.

Race engineers are the unsung heroes of F1. They work closely with drivers. They help make important decisions during races. Their job is to guide drivers and optimize car performance. Let’s take a closer look at who these crucial team members are for the 2025 season.

Red Bull Racing: Continuing Strong Partnerships

At Red Bull, we see some familiar faces. Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, continues to work with GianPiero Lambiase. Fans often hear their conversations during races. Lambiase is known for his direct style of communication.

The team’s newest driver, Liam Lawson, has a new partner. Richard Wood will be his race engineer. Wood has moved up from being a performance engineer. This shows how teams often promote from within.

Mercedes: Experience Meets Youth

Mercedes has an interesting mix. George Russell works with Marcus Dudley. Dudley became Russell’s engineer in 2023. He knows the car and the driver well.

The team’s rookie, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, gets a very experienced engineer. Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington will guide him. Bono is famous for his work with Lewis Hamilton. His experience will be valuable for the young driver.

Ferrari: New Partnerships for Success

At Ferrari, we see some changes. Charles Leclerc now works with Bryan Bozzi. Bozzi took over this role in 2024. He has been with Ferrari for a long time.

Lewis Hamilton, in his new Ferrari seat, pairs with Riccardo Adami. Adami has worked with top drivers before. This partnership will be exciting to watch.

McLaren: Stability and Growth

McLaren keeps things steady. Lando Norris continues with Will Joseph. They have been together since Norris started in F1. This long-term partnership has helped Norris grow as a driver.

Oscar Piastri works with Tom Stallard. Stallard has an interesting background. He was an Olympic rower before becoming an engineer. His diverse experience brings a unique perspective to the team.

Haas F1 Team: Making History

Haas has made big changes. They have two new race engineers. One of them is making history. Laura Mueller becomes the first female race engineer in F1. She will work with Esteban Ocon. This is a big step for diversity in the sport.

Oliver Bearman, the team’s other driver, works with Ronan O’Hare. O’Hare brings experience from different F1 teams. This mix of new perspectives could help Haas improve their performance.

Other Teams: A Mix of Old and New

The other teams on the grid also have interesting pairings. At Alpine, Pierre Gasly works with John Howard. Jack Doohan is paired with Josh Peckett. Both engineers have been with the team since 2024.

Williams keeps some consistency. Alex Albon continues with James Urwin. Carlos Sainz, new to the team, works with Gaetan Jego. Jego has been with Williams since 2019.

Some teams haven’t confirmed their engineer lineups yet. Aston Martin and Kick Sauber are still to announce their pairings. This adds an element of mystery as we approach the new season.

The Importance of Race Engineers

Race engineers are more than just voices on the radio. They are key to a driver’s success. They analyze data, make quick decisions, and provide crucial support. The relationship between a driver and their engineer can make a big difference on race day.

As we look forward to the 2025 season, these partnerships will be crucial. They will shape strategies, influence decisions, and ultimately, help determine who stands on the podium. The world of F1 is not just about the drivers. It’s about the entire team, with race engineers playing a starring role.
